The dCi 86 is the more economical of the pair, with an official combined average of 62.8mpg but it is still capable of 106mph performance. This engine is offered with a choice of five-speed manual transmission or Renault’s clutchless Quickshift5 transmission.
The more powerful diesel engine, the dCi 106 is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox and produces 105bhp (20bhp more than the dCi 86) and 240Nm of pull (40Nm more). That’s sufficient to give it 116mph performance yet it also offers 60.1mpg economy. Like the dCi 86, it is rated as an eco2 engine.
The most powerful petrol engine is the 110bhp 1.6-litre, which comes with four-speed automatic transmission, 114mph performance and 37.1mpg economy.
The other two petrol engines are 1.2-litre units that are each rated at 47.8mpg and employ five-speed manual gearboxes. One is turbocharged to produce 100bhp and 113mph pace, while the entry-level 1.2 is normally-aspirated and tuned to deliver 75bhp and 101mph performance.
